Olive Branch - Features

I'm trying to diagnose my shuddering car
over the phone to my Dad who's
waiting for the doctor's call.

The humidity bleeds under my skin
as I worry about engines and stomachs and legs.
Which is easier to cure:
a grandmother, a car,
or a rainstorm?

I sit on the floor,
praying my grandmother isn't dying
and trace frog legs onto pages,
looking for knees to fall
into limping alignment.

Split kneecaps and temporary cats
will break my heart.
